AIRMATIC SUSPENSION REPAIR SERVICES

AIRMATIC SUSPENSION

AIRMATIC is the Mercedes-Benz air suspension, fitted to models such as the S-Class, E-Class, CLS, GLE, and GLS. Air springs replace steel coils, and electronic dampers adjust to the road in real time. When one part falters, the whole ride changes. Fremont Foreign Auto diagnoses and repairs AIRMATIC systems for Mercedes-Benz owners in Fremont, Newark, Union City, and Milpitas.

Four areas cause most faults. Air struts develop leaks. The compressor overworks to make up the difference. The valve block loses pressure between corners. Ride-height sensors and wiring send faulty data. A new strut will not fix a leaking valve block, so we test every component before we replace anything.

Ignoring an AIRMATIC warning costs money. A leaking strut causes the compressor to run longer, which wears it out. If your Mercedes sags overnight or shows an AIRMATIC message on the dash, schedule an inspection.

What does the AIRMATIC warning mean?

The system found a fault it cannot correct on its own. Causes include a failed air strut, a weak compressor, a leaking valve block, or a sensor fault. Message wording varies by model, so we scan the system before we recommend repairs.

Why does my Mercedes sag overnight?

Air escapes from a leaking strut, an air line, or the valve block. The corner with the biggest leak sits lowest. You may also hear the compressor run longer each time you start the car.

Why does my ride feel rough and stiff?

Each air strut carries its own adaptive damping valve. A faulty valve can stiffen the ride, and a bad valve often calls for a new strut.

How long do AIRMATIC air springs last?

Air springs often last between 70,000 and 120,000 miles. Age, climate, and driving habits can shorten or stretch the range.

Can I drive with a failed AIRMATIC system?

Do not drive if the display tells you to stop. A collapsed corner can damage tires, fenders, and strut mounts. We can advise on towing and get your car on the lift quickly.

Do you replace the whole system or only failed parts?

We replace what the tests prove has failed. Sometimes a single strut solves the problem. Other times the compressor or valve block needs work. We explain each finding before we start.
