If you own a Volkswagen—especially an air-cooled vintage Beetle—this is the place for service. My 1966 VW Bug is a daily driver for my kid, so when it developed front-end issues, I needed a shop I could trust. I initially thought it needed a new ball joint, and very few shops can handle that kind of work anymore. In fact, Fremont Foreign Auto was recommended by a wheel-and-brake shop in San Leandro that wouldn’t touch an old Bug.

Eduardo, the owner, quickly diagnosed the problem and came back with good news: the ball joints were fine. What the car actually needed were new tie rods and a steering damper, along with a rear main seal to address an oil leak. Eduardo is a true car guy—he owns a ’60s Bug himself—and he had (or sourced) all the parts needed for a fast, fairly priced, high-quality repair.

What really impressed me was the pride he takes in his work. When I picked up the car, he had also replaced several cheap hoses and swapped out old screws for new ones—tasks that weren’t even on the quote. Knowing my kid drives this car every day, I genuinely feel better having it in safer condition… or at least as safe as a ’60s Bug can be.

Highly recommend this repair shop especially if you have an AMG, they're so professional and efficient on fixing 3 of the fuel injectors of my AMG GTR, took me 3k less compared to the dealer (Jesus). And helped me fixed broken wires bitten by rats without charging. They also recommended some nice items for my car to maintain a better engine health.

My RX 350 is here now for a stalling problem. Eduardo has been exceptional with working to find my issue. You can't go wrong bringing your car here. I know my car issue is difficult because it has no codes/check engine light and Foreign Auto Repair shop has been wonderful in not giving up and being determined to resolve my stalling. The best shop in the bay area. If you have a classic foreign car you cherish, you have found your mechanic. Edwardo, the shop owner, was prompt, knowledgeable, proactive, thorough, and friendly. Although the shop was extremely busy, Edwardo responded to my sense of urgency and was able to see me the same day. Unrelated to the reason for coming in, Edwardo noticed and tightened a loose valve cover bolt. Once completed, he pressure cleaned the top half of the engine. The extra care was refreshing.
The quality, timing, and cost exceeded my expectations. I’m a fan and loyal customer.

this shop is honest, responsible, and does quality repairs, even though I live an hour away from their shop, I would go to them for repairs.

Another shop quoted me lots of extra unnecessary repairs for my car (Mercedes S600), Fremont Foreign Auto gets straight to the point, and fixes the issues, their service and communication is really good, they would test the car to make sure everything is ok before handing it back to me, their price is reasonable, and no upsell for extra repairs.

This is a long overdue review. As a British motoring enthusiast, I came to Fremont Foreign after British European closed. I had to find a shop that knew the Jaguars and Land Rovers the way Nick and Carol did, and thank goodness they do. Not many may know, but Eduardo was the one that was helping them out when Nick was out for health reasons, super commendable.

He and his team are true gearheads that not only have the passion, but a thorough understanding of what makes our cars tick, literally. They're not just a service manual workshop, they are car doctors. There's not many shops left like this, which is why you'll also see many classic sports cars around like Alfas and Porsches. I believe they are also one of the only shops in the greater vicinity that work on Deloreans.

On top of all this, the office staff are very courteous and attentive. I also appreciate how Eduardo is honest and always trying to look out for the customer, looking for any ways to make it the most economical.

Eduardo and the team have been extremely helpful on multiple major Porsche services I've had done here. Out of all the mechanics I've been to in the bay area, this one has been the best by far both in terms of quality, price and communication.

This is a fantastic shop. When all of the other shops in the Bay Area would not even look at my car, Eduardo called me personally and ensured that he could get my car up and running again and he did just that. Long story short, one of my cars was down for almost 6 months with a serious misfire on 3 cylinders. I took my vehicle to his shop and within 1 month, the car was up and running again perfectly and it only took that long due to having to order parts from my tuner. Eduardo never made excuses, always called me back promptly, never overcharged me and always had a smile on his face every time I showed up.

These characteristics show a lot about his shop and the expert mechanics that work for him (Thank you Merwin for your help as well as his wonderful customer service ladies, they are professional and excellent at their job). I will be making a YouTube video advertising this shop to people in the Bay Area; but I had to leave a detailed review here showcasing my appreciation for the excellent work that Eduardo and his team did on my Genesis 5.0. Took my car in because something hit underneath my car and it was making a loud noise. Eduardo jacked it up right on the spot when I got there and pulled a piece of plastic off that was dragging and that was it!! That was awesome! I told him if anything ever goes wrong with my car, I will be bringing it to him for sure! Some shops will tell you anything just to make money especially if you’re a woman. Not this one quick and honest and didn’t even charge me anything! What a great guy!

I have known Eduardo and his team for 25 years. Not only is Eduardo a genuinely a warm and caring individual, he is extremely knowledgeable about cars (and motorcycles) as a whole. Today I noticed a coolant leak in a coolant hose on my Vanagon. I pulled into Fremont Foreign Auto and within a couple of minutes, Eduardo had replaced the hose and topped off the coolant and I was back on the road. The most professional shop I've found in Fremont. They are very communicative and up front about what needs to be done to your car. I do a lot of my own work so I have somewhat of a critical eye and I've always been quite satisfied with anything they've done to my car.

I have a 2003 PT Cruzer Turbo and I cannot say enough good things about how Fremont Foreign Auto has always done a great job of letting me know what and why something is wrong and then telling me the price and how long it will take to fix it. They always let me know when there's something that they will keep an eye on because it doesn't need fixing at the time but needs to be watched. Everyone is very friendly and helpful always. I know that if they tell me something needs to be done, it needs to be done. I trust them completely to be honest and truthful. Thank you all for all that you do everyday to make your customers happy. I know I am very happy my car looks great.

Such an amazing experience. I brought my car just to get an estimate on the cost of replacing a broken water tubing for my windshield washer. The owner came out and looked at it and told me, "this is easy". He started working on it with another mechanic and after a few minutes, he asked me to test the washer and it was working properly again. The part of this story that I thought was incredible was when he told me that all the work they did, including the materials were FREE! For the owner of this shop, not only he has great skills, more importantly, he has a great heart!

Eduardo at Fremont Foreign is a top notch mechanic! Excellent communication, honest, and he did the work quickly and professionally on my Audi A3. Price-wise, Fremont Foreign is neither cheap, or priced outrageously. However, for the quality of work they do, it's very reasonably priced. Highly recommended!

I’ve had my S5 serviced quite a few times already. I have been completely satisfied. Had a part replaced and it went bad the next day…but because they have a warranty it’s no issue at all and they ordered another one. They replaced it ASAP. Part is still good til this day. Had an issue where my wire harness clip for the battery cracked and popped off. My car wouldn’t turn over so I electrical taped it until I got annoyed of my car not always starting unless I jiggle the battery lol. My man Eduardo hooked me up and welded the part on so it would never snap off again but I can still take out the battery so it’s perfect. He did a fantastic 5 star job. I couldn’t be happier with the service he and the staff has done with my car.

I have been a customer of this place for more than twenty plus years. Eduardo is a great guy, every tow truck company in Fremont knows him well. I have one Japanese and two German vehicles serviced here for the past twenty plus years. Everyone worked very hard trying to get to the right issue to fix and change only the necessary parts. They have also changed their parts warranty to 24 months over the past few years. Jose took good car of my cars from a simple lightbulb change to windshield wipers. Everyone at this place Eduardo included deserves a kudo. They all worked very hard to focus on taking good car if customers. If there is a six star, I will give them a six star service for taking great care of customers.

A few months ago, I was arranging an out of state purchase of a used car from a private party. It was an older car, and I was having trouble locating a company I felt comfortable with performing the pre-purchase inspection until I spoke to Eduardo at Fremont Foreign Auto. In fact, as luck would have it, Eduardo owned the same car I was buying, and he knew the cars very well – including all of its known quirks. He was honest and direct about the condition of the car, and made recommendations on what I needed to do in order to make my 650+ mile trip home.

His team of specialists (they are not just mechanics) went above and beyond to make the repairs that were necessary, as well as solved for a mystery symptom that popped up, within the two days I had before I had to head home, and he even referred me to a good specialist friend who happens to live in my hometown. Eduardo also took time to educate me about the repairs he made, and he gave me some good pointers to use down the road to maintain the car.

Before I left his shop, he asked that I do him a favor by calling me when I made it home so he'd know I made it okay. He's genuinely a nice person. He is very passionate about cars (and motorcycles), and he treats his customers like they are family.

The absolute best in the business! I've been a customer of Eduardo's since since I met him in 1999. I was eager to follow when he opened his 1st location a couple years later. Not only has he serviced/repaired all of my Jaguars and Lotus, but the shop did an amazing job on a Jeep Wrangler engine swap! This team works with great pride and efficiency! They service and repair everything from European to American, and everything in between. Conveniently enough, they'll work with warranty coverages and insurance claims. Basically, they do it all, ver VERY WELL!!. Honesty from a shop is incredibly hard to find in the Bay Area. With Eduardo and his team, you can truly trust the prices, and more importantly, the quality of work!! I will not deviate!
