HONDA ACCORD REPAIR SERVICES
ACCORD
We’re a top rated local Honda Accord repair services shop in Fremont, CA. The Honda Accord is a lot more than a mid-size upgrade on their classic Civic, though you might think the two models look similar on the surface. It’s not every vehicle that can win an impressive 10/10 rating from Car and Driver as the 2022 Accord did.
But, even the highest performing and impressive vehicles still have their problems and maintenance requirements. Like any vehicle, a Honda Accord is going to need some maintenance work every now and again, and they do have some sticky points that can lead to expensive repair services.
So, before you jump into the driver’s seat of the latest Accord, here are some of the most common problems Fremont Foreign Auto Care sees in Honda Accords.

TRANSMISSION FAILURE
Unfortunately, the Honda Accord is one of the models caught up in a transmission problem that is cropping up across the brand’s recent releases.
The Accord has this issue a little less often than some vehicles, and you’re most likely to encounter transmission issues after 100,000 miles, which is a bit better than some models.
However, the transmission issues that are being reported, including transmission slippage, changing gears suddenly and incorrectly, and even the transmission forcing the vehicle to a complete stop without warning, are all fairly severe and dangerous issues if they happen on the road.
In some cases, the issue may be with an individual part, but you’re just as likely to need to replace or rebuild your transmission to deal with these problems.
FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH
The most common symptom of a faulty ignition switch in a Honda Accord is also, unfortunately, the most severe. If you can’t get your vehicle to start the ignition switch, rather than the battery or starter, might be to blame in some models of Accord.
Other symptoms include:
● Can’t turn the key
● Car stalling
● No noise from the starter
● Flickering dashboard lights
If you have any of these problems, it’s a good idea to head to a mechanic. You may need to replace the ignition switch or other parts of the electrical system to help ensure smooth starting in future.
DEAD BATTERY
Any vehicle can have a dead battery, but when batteries go dead more often than usual that’s a good reason for concern.
Usually, a dead battery can just be replaced and there’s no problems. However, if your battery is dead more often than you think it should be, that’s a good reason to get the alternator and electrical systems checked. It’s possible that the issue isn’t the battery, but it’s something else in the system.
However, when it comes to the Accord, the OEM battery has been known to go dead early. If that happens to you, it’s a good idea to switch to a different brand for your next battery.
POWER STEERING WHINE
Power steering whine is a serious symptom and can be a sign that you’re about to have a power steering problem on the road. If you hear this problem, you need to get to a mechanic as soon as you can.
Chances are the whine in the power steering is being caused by air in the line or in the pump. Either one can cause power steering failures or mean that you aren’t getting as much power as normal.
In a lot of cases, the air can be removed, but in some instances, you might need new power steering fluid, a new pump, or both.
No matter what the actual cause or fix is, this is an urgent issue.
PREMATURE BRAKE WEAR
No one likes to hear that their brakes are likely to wear out sooner than normal, especially since your vehicle’s brakes are one of their most important safety systems.
That said, there are some brake caliper issues on the Honda Accord that can lead to premature brake pad wear and tear.
In those cases, it’s important to get high-quality brake pads and consult with your mechanic to see if other brake system repairs can help the problem from repeating.
