VEHICLE SPEED SYSTEM MALFUNCTION
Vehicle speed control problem is one of the common problems of the Audi A7. The speed control sensor is a system responsible for monitoring a vehicle’s speed level. Your Audi A7 may, without warning, experience sudden unexpected acceleration. This problem occurs when the driver experiences sudden acceleration, even while trying to brake. In some other cases, the car may decelerate without control. The problem of uncontrolled acceleration and deceleration can be traced to the vehicle speed control system, including the speed sensors. Once the speed system and its sensor have issues, it will not be able to monitor or control the speed properly.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAULT
Another common problem with the Audi A7 is an electrical system malfunction. There have been complaints about malfunctions in the MMI system, charging pads, and speedometer, amongst others. There have been cases of the dashboard going blank when the car started and complaints of speedometer and fuel gauge malfunctions. However, electrical system issues may be easy to fix, as they are caused by chewed wiring or software issues. A simple software update or rewiring may fix the glitch you are experiencing.
POWERTRAIN AND TRANSMISSION ISSUES
Simply put, the powertrain includes the transmission system; unfortunately, the A7 is prone to transmission issues. Some A7 have been known to experience problems shifting from one gear to another. In some cases, it suddenly loses power when shifting gear. The problem can develop regardless of how long you have been using the vehicle. In addition, the powertrain and transmission malfunction may be caused by a leak below the bell housing. Problems like this could be very frustrating, especially when you pay so much to buy a vehicle with quality parts. The issue with powertrain and transmission is predominant with the 2019 A7 model.
STOP-START DEFECT
One major complaint by Audi drivers seems to relate to the start-stop feature. Problems with the start-stop can affect acceleration and power steering. The start-stop system has benefits and can help fuel economy and emissions. Yet, this feature has become very unpopular, especially with the Audi A7. Some drivers have complained of the feature not working or, on some occasions, working too aggressively than usual. For instance, stopping at a red light and the start-stop system immediately shuts down the engine. Others raised concerns about the system working a bit too early than it should. Audi has advised users to turn off the feature if they dislike how it functions.
TIMING CHAIN ISSUE
The A7 may have issues with the timing chains, which causes the engine to be noisy. Audi once used belts for their engines but has recently switched to chains because of their durability. However, the chains may slip due to a bad tensioner, causing engine failure. Also, the chains may lose and skip a tooth which causes the engine to be noisy and other problems. Once the chain gets loosened, your engine may misfire, make a rattling noise, or trigger the check engine light.
